How to play the game Gin Rummy?
The game is usually played in two parts like:

1. The draw: When the game starts each player draws a card, face down, from the top of the stock pile. Cards, face up, are discarded by the players from the top of the discard pile. A player can choose see the card in advance in the discard pile but he has no choice in the stock pile since cards are placed face down in the stock pile.
2. The discard: To complete a turn, one card should be discarded from a player’s hand and placed, face up, on the top of the discard pile. If a player draws a card from the stock pile then he should add the different card in the discard pile and putting the same card is not permissible.

During the play, in each turn, players try to form sequences of 3 or more cards of the same suit or sets of 3 or more cards of the same rank. Remaining cards which are not valid combinations are known as deadwood cards or unmatched cards and sum of the deadwood cards should not be more than 10 points. If a player reveals his deadwood counts then this is called knocking. If a knocking is done without matchless cards then this is called “Going Gin” and a player gains bonus points. The other players are not allowed to lay off if a player goes gin.

Strategy for playing Gin Rummy
During the game play you should always be careful about your opponent’s strategy. You should always notice that which card is discarded by your opponent player. In your turn you should discard only that card which is not useful for your opponents. Always try to knock during the game play rather than going for gin because it is good for bonus. You should pick up that card which has been discarded by your opponent and which is useful for you in forming meld. You should avoid that card which is not useful for making melds.
